I was born in Downey California, to John and Michelle Farra. Spent most of my days playing baseball , basketball, definitely was not that kind of kid that was drawing in the back of the class.
It wasn't until I went to prison that I started getting into drawing. I started drawing Disney characters for birthday and Christmas cards for other people.
After I got good at that I moved on to portraits, until one day this guy named hoss asked me to do a portrait of a bull that he grew up with. About 3 days later after I finish the portrait, I gave it to him and he was so happy.
So happy in fact, that he wanted me to tattoo it on him. In his words "If you can draw it that good, you can tattoo it that good". I told him that was not a good idea and that I've never held a tattoo machine before and that I would probably mess it up.
Well , peer pressure won and I ended up doing it anyways. That night we started, and was finished around 4:00 a.m.
He went to the bathroom to wash up and I couldn't tell if he was happy or angry. He started getting really loud , waking everybody up and walking towards me really fast. I put my boots on predicting a fight was about to go down and the closer and closer he got, I got more nervous...
He then picked me up and I thought "oh no he's going to slam me on the ground".
But he didn't, he set me down and as we separated I could see the tears in his eyes. He was elated. I honestly couldn't believe it. That was my first tattoo and after that I was hooked. Obsessed evn.. I didn't know you could do that with art. I wanted to make everyone that happy. 17 years later here I am, still chasing that feeling.
