What are some of the inspirations for the league?

We are inspired by traditional team sports leagues such as the NFL, MLB, FIFA, Premier League, etc. We are also inspired by the rise, success and importance of eSports. It was only a matter of time for a league of professional artists to come together to build a similar league and experience for creatives, fans and friends.

Why does TezTones exist?

The narrative and simplicity of sports is a time proven experience. We are a community applying the ethos and format of sports to remedy many of the woes artists face today. We believe in the power of combining the proven track record of sports with the technology of web3 and its ability to create opportunities for artists globally. We also believe in the healing qualities of music, art and international community through heart-centered collaboration. Arts form a universal language that has served humans since we first began to advance as a society. Never in the course of history has this experience been possible and we are honored to be a part of bringing it to life.

Who are the members of the TezTones team?

Hashbrown, Bases, F3nd3l, Retro Manni and Paraxeno are the primary members of the TezTones team. The community is also an integral component to the TezTones team, as we work openly in a public format and allow many of the key decisions to be voted on as a team and community. As we grow and evolve, our team will also expand and evolve.

How are teams selected?

Each season will include a sign up form and period where artists can apply to be included. Team Captains will be chosen and their teams will then be randomly drafted live in a publicly shared space. Each team will consist of at least two musicians and one visual artist. Musicians may also contribute to the visual art, and visual artists may also contribute to the music. It is designed to be a collaborative effort. Artists of other mediums are welcome and encouraged to join!

How does the judging system work?

During the regular season matches will be decided by a popular vote. For the Post Season matches will be scored by a combination of 4 judges and popular vote. The individual judges will have a more advanced scoring method which includes collaborative effort, emotive quality, originality and interpretation of the prompt.

What are the prompts for each match?

Each match prompt will be focused on a theme. The idea is to allow the prompt to be open to interpretation and based on each teams individual approach. 

How does our team submit their final piece?

All information and links for submissions will be found at artists.teztones.com which will be updated live throughout the season.

How does the collaborative contract work?

Each artist assigned to a team will receive an invitation to the Tezos Address they provided. Once the invitation is accepted, the artist will be added to the collaborative contract along with the other artists. The TezTones team will ensure royalties are shared with each artist along with the appropriate percentage of each primary sale.

How many artists are on each team?

To begin Season 1, each team will be assigned at least 3 artists. As the season progresses, we will allow new artists to join and will add members to each team.

How many teams are included in the season?

We will decide the team number once we have final signups for Season 1with 13 teams. We do not plan to add additional teams until Season 2.

How are the primary sales allocated?

For the first  two rounds  we used these splits:
75% of primary sales are allocated to the artists of each team. 10% will go the winners pool.

10% will go to the TezTones wallet. 5% will be allocated to the TezTones Artist relief fund.
We are determining and will have a community vote on what proper splits for an extended season and post season are.

How are the royalties allocated?

Royalties will be 15% for each piece that is minted. The royalties will be split equally with each team member and TezTones. This will typically be 3.75% for each artist and 3.75% for TezTones. As the team sizes grow, the royalties will be allocated equally to include the new team members.

Does my team get anything for winning?

Yes! Winning teams from each regular season round will get a percentage of the overall sale volume from that round. Additionally a small percentage from each regular season round will be allocated to the winners of the Post Season. We will discuss and vote on specific splits once Season 1 teams have been assigned.

How does the Artist relief fund work?

Artists within the community may apply to the artist relief fund.

What is the timeline for Season 1?

The regular season will run from June 2023-December 2023. The playoffs will run from January 2024-February 2024.

How does the points system work?

Each team will be awarded points based on their scoring rank each round. Points will be awarded in descending order based on the round's score. The top 4 highest scoring teams for the season will advance to the playoffs.

How many matches are included in the regular season?

There will be a total of 4 regular season matches.

How many matches will be included for Season 1 playoffs?

The top 4 teams will compete in the semi-finals. The final match of the season will be the Finals, which will include the two winning teams from the semi-finals.
