Messages: SMS & Text Chat
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 27, 2026
1. Introduction and Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Contacts App, Call Dialer Screen & Phone DialPad (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with the Android application Messages: SMS & Text Chat (the “App”).
The App lets you send and receive SMS messages, schedule texts, block senders, and back up messages. The App does not require you to create an account or provide personal information. Message data, contacts, and related content are processed and stored locally on your device.
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the App and is designed to comply with Google Play Developer Program Policies (including User Data and Data Safety requirements), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union, the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).
By using the App you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any type of user data through the App itself. The App does not require registration, login, or the submission of personal information such as name, email address, or payment card details.
All SMS messages, conversations, scheduled messages, blocked numbers, and backups are stored and processed locally on your device. Data recovery and backup operations are performed entirely on your device and do not leave your device through our application.
Third-party services integrated into the App (detailed in later sections) may collect certain technical or usage information according to their own privacy policies. We do not receive or store the content of your SMS messages or personal contact details on our servers.
3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, any limited processing of personal data by third-party services occurs on the following legal bases:
Consent – when you grant Android permissions or interact with advertisements.
Legitimate interests – for app stability, crash reporting, performance monitoring, and delivery of relevant advertising, balanced against your rights.
Performance of a contract – to provide the core SMS, scheduling, and blocking features you request.
Legal obligation – when we are required to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
You may withdraw consent at any time by changing device permissions or uninstalling the App.
4. Permissions We Use in Our App and Why
The App requests the following Android permissions only when needed for its core functions. You can review and revoke any permission at any time in your device Settings > Apps > Messages: SMS & Text Chat > Permissions.
SEND_SMS – Required to send SMS messages directly from the App.
RECEIVE_SMS – Required to receive incoming SMS messages and display them inside the App.
READ_SMS – Required to read and display existing SMS conversations so you can view message history.
WRITE_SMS – Required on supported Android versions to manage or update SMS messages when the App acts as the default SMS handler.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS – Required to show notifications for new messages, scheduled message delivery, and important App updates.
READ_CONTACTS – Required to display contact names next to phone numbers in conversations instead of showing only numbers.
READ_PHONE_STATE – Required to detect SIM card information and correctly route SMS messages on dual-SIM devices.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM – Required to schedule SMS messages for delivery at a precise future time.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED – Required to restore scheduled messages after the device restarts so that pending texts are not lost.
WAKE_LOCK – Used temporarily to keep the device awake only long enough to complete important background tasks such as sending a scheduled message.
INTERNET – Required for third-party services (advertising, analytics, and performance monitoring) and any network-dependent features.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC – Required to run user-visible foreground services when the App needs to perform ongoing tasks such as message synchronization or scheduled delivery under Android’s background restrictions.
These permissions are used solely for the stated purposes. The App does not use them to collect or transmit your personal messages or contacts to our servers.
5. Data Storage and Security
All SMS messages, conversation history, scheduled messages, blocked numbers, and local backups remain on your device. We do not upload or store this content on our servers.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited technical data that may be processed by third-party services. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You can delete all App-related data at any time by clearing the App’s storage in device settings or by uninstalling the App.

These third-party services operate under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
7. Advertising, Analytics, and Tracking Technologies
The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob, AdX, and Meta (Facebook). These services may collect device identifiers, IP address, advertising ID, and interaction data to deliver personalized or non-personalized ads and to measure ad performance.
Firebase Analytics is used to collect aggregated usage statistics.
You can limit ad personalization by:
Resetting or opting out of the Advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings > Google > Ads).
Using system-level privacy controls available on newer Android versions.
We do not use the content of your SMS messages for advertising purposes.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The App itself does not use cookies. Third-party advertising and analytics SDKs may use device identifiers, local storage, or similar technologies that function like cookies. These technologies are governed by the respective third-party privacy policies linked above.
9. Detailed Information on the Processing of Your Personal Data
Message content and contacts: Processed and stored only on your device. Never transmitted by the App to our servers or to third parties for their own use.
Technical and diagnostic data: Crash logs, performance metrics, and aggregated analytics may be processed by Firebase.
Advertising identifiers: Processed by AdMob, AdX, and Meta for ad delivery and measurement.
Purchase status: Google Play may share limited non-personal information (such as subscription status) so the App can unlock premium features.
We do not sell personal information.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Because message data remains on your device, retention is controlled by you. Uninstalling the App or clearing App storage removes all local data.
Technical data collected by Firebase or advertising partners is retained according to their respective retention policies (typically for a limited period necessary for the stated purposes).
You may request deletion of any data held by third-party services by contacting us or by using the tools provided by those services.
11. Payment Terms and In-App Purchases
The App offers in-app purchases and paid subscriptions.
All payments and subscriptions are handled safely by Google Play Billing. We do not collect, store, or see your payment details such as card information or Google account passwords.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them before the next billing date. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime from your Google Play account settings. If you cancel, you will continue to enjoy premium features until the current billing period ends.
Purchase Information
Google may share limited, non-personal purchase details with us, such as subscription status or validity, so we can unlock premium features.
Refunds & Cancellations
All refund requests must be made through Google Play, following Google Play’s refund rules.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not share your purchase or subscription information with any third parties, except when required by Google for payment verification.
Policies
All in-app purchases and subscriptions follow the Google Play Terms of Service (https://play.google.com/about/play-terms/) and the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

14. “Do Not Track” (CalOPPA)
The App does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals because there is no industry-wide standard for such signals. You can limit tracking by adjusting your device’s advertising ID settings and by reviewing the privacy options offered by Google and Meta.
15. International Data Transfers
Technical data processed by Firebase, Google, or Meta may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including the United States. These providers use standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms to protect the data. By using the App you acknowledge that such transfers may occur.
16. Protection from Malware and Network Misuse
