Text Collector is a Chrome extension that allows users to collect selected text or extract the main article from webpages, edit the collected text, and copy or download it as a plain-text file.
Text Collector operates locally in the user's browser. It does not transmit collected text, browsing information, or other user data to the developer or external servers.
Text Collector accesses and stores the following information when a user explicitly requests text collection:
Selected webpage text: Text highlighted by the user and added through the browser's right-click menu.
Article text: The main article content extracted from a webpage when the user selects the "Extract Article" feature. This operation processes a copy of the webpage to identify the main article, but only the extracted article text is retained.
Source information: The webpage's title, URL, and collection timestamp.
User edits: Changes made to collected text in the extension's editor.
Technical information: Random editor-tab identifiers and save counters used to manage local editing and saving.
Text Collector does not automatically monitor browsing activity or collect information from webpages without user action.
Collected information is used exclusively to provide Text Collector's functionality, including:
Collecting selected text and article content.
Combining and editing collected passages.
Maintaining a list of source webpages.
Preserving collected text between browser sessions.
Allowing users to copy text to their clipboard or download it as a plain-text file.
Information is not used for advertising, profiling, analytics, or tracking users across websites.
Text Collector stores collected text, user edits, and source information locally using Chrome's extension storage.
Information remains stored until the user clears the editor or uninstalls the extension.
Temporary extension error information may be retained in Chrome's session storage. This information does not contain webpage content.
Text Collector does not maintain a remote database or synchronize collected information to an external server.
Text Collector does not sell, share, or transmit collected user information to third parties.
Users may voluntarily export their collected text by copying it to the clipboard or downloading it as a text file. These actions are initiated and controlled by the user.
Text Collector does not send user information to the developer, advertising networks, analytics services, or external APIs.
Users control what information is collected and retained.
Users can:
Choose which text or articles to collect.
Edit collected text.
Copy or download collected text.
Delete saved content using the "Clear Editor" feature.
Uninstall Text Collector to remove its extension storage.
Files downloaded or text copied outside the extension are controlled by the user and are not deleted when the extension's storage is cleared.
Text Collector uses the following Chrome permissions:
activeTab: Temporarily accesses the active webpage when the user requests text collection.
scripting: Runs the extension's bundled text-extraction code on the requested webpage.
contextMenus: Adds an option to Chrome's right-click menu for collecting selected text.
storage: Saves collected text, source information, and editing data locally in Chrome.
These permissions are used only to support the extension's text collection and editing features.
Text Collector's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
User data is used solely to provide or improve Text Collector's stated functionality. It is not sold, transferred for advertising purposes, used to determine creditworthiness, or used for unrelated purposes.
The developer does not have access to users' locally stored collected text.
This privacy policy may be updated if Text Collector's features or data-handling practices change.
Updates will be published on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
