History

This meetup formed after the inaugural Youth Services Roundup (Nov 2024), where some of us found we really valued meeting up and learning from and sharing with other teen-serving folks in public libraries, and wanted to schedule a monthly meetup. These meetups started in January of 2025.

Often, teen librarians and library staff working with teens in public libraries are isolated -- sometimes the only person working with youth in their entire library system. Even those of us who work at a multi-branch system feel the isolation that is inherent with working with teens -- a population that is often disenfranchised from library use, yet deserves all the resources and spaces that public libraries provides. 

We found ourselves wanting more ways to connect with other public library staff who work with teens across Texas, and created this space as a way to network and build community.

In a very short time, we've grown to over 50 members, started a discord server, and created this website to share resources with each other.
