Web App: Texas Flood Risk Explorer
This interactive web app was developed using ArcGIS Experience Builder to help the public understand flood risk across the state of Texas. It provides access to geospatial data on flood zones, historic flood events, and areas of projected inundation, allowing users to explore when, where, and how flooding affects different communities.
The app is designed to inform residents, students, planners, and emergency responders about areas most vulnerable to flooding and how those risks have changed over time.
This application includes interactive tools that support learning and data exploration:
Legend – Helps users understand FEMA zone classifications (e.g., 100-year vs. 500-year floodplains)
Layer List – Allows users to toggle layers like projected inundation, river basins, and flood hazard zones
Filter – Users can filter to display specific flood zone types or impacted counties
Table – Shows detailed attributes about flood zones, such as name, area, and risk level
The app is centered on Texas, with zoom capabilities to explore local areas such as Central Texas, the Gulf Coast, and major river basins like the Guadalupe, Brazos, and Trinity Rivers.
