In a recent Windows update, the program Microsoft Teams got installed and was set to run automatically whenever you started Windows. While it's a great collaboration tool, for most people it's a pain. Here's how to stop it, and other programs from running when you start your computer.

2. Click on More Details to see all the Task Manager options.
3. Click on the Startup tab along the top of the window
Now you will see all the programs that Windows wants to start by default in a list.
4. Right click on Microsoft Teams or the program you want to stop running and select Disable. It will now no longer run when you start your computer.
This is a shortcut I use all the time and is especially useful for a folder with photos inside it.
Select the folder you want to increase the icon size in. Then while folding the Ctrl (Control) button down, scroll the wheel of you mouse forward to increase the size of the icons, and scroll backwards to decrease the size of the icons.
Another way to alter the size of the icon is to click your View menu in Windows Explorer. This will also show you options for viewing different sizes of files
On Windows 8 and Windows 10 you can organise programs into groups, and in the case of Windows 10, even into folders. This can help you group similar of often used programs, and folders.
All you have to do is click and drag an icon that is on your Start Menu. By Default the grid allows for three icons across.
To add an Icon to the Start, find it in the list of program in your Start Menu, and then Right-Click on it and select Pin to Start.
In the most recent versions of Windows 10 you can drag one icon on top of another and create a folder.
The Quick Access panel is usually at the top left hand side of a Windows Explorer folder. By default it shows some of the most commonly used folders, and the Explorer Window will also show these folders and the most recent files used.
However, you can only have Folders or Drives in the Quick Access panel.
To add a Folder or Drive to the Quick Access panel, eg. This PC, Right-click on its icon and from the menu select Pin to Quick access.
Once you have some folders or drives pinned, you can change the order they appear by Right-clicking and holding and then dragging the icon up and down the list as desired.
A black line will appear between items in the list showing you where your new icon will sit once you let go of the mouse button.
One useful use of this is to Pin your current Aromatawai folder to the Quick Access panel so you can easily get to it without digging down through multiple folders.
By default, all of your personal folders sit in your C: Drive in the the Users folder and then in the folder with your login name. In this example, the login name is "Tutu". The Public folder you see is a place you can put things if you have multiple users on your PC. Any user will be able to access the Public folder.
File types are how a computers sees different files for example, a Word document, or an MP3 audio file. Sometimes it is handy to know what kind of file you have as we start needing to understand the difference between things like image files. How can you tell the difference between Jpeg and PNG image files. The way Windows can tell is by a 3 or 4 letter extension following a Full-Stop at the end of the file name. For example a Jpeg image will be called "Image1234.jpg" with the .jpg part denoting it as a Jpeg.
To see the file name extensions, click on the View menu from an Explorer window, and find the check box titled "File name extensions" and tick it.
If you have your new computer up an running and your screen is too hard to see because the icons and text are too small, or if they are too big and you want to shrink them down, check the scaling settings in Windows 10.
1. Left-click somewhere on your desktop and click on click on Display Settings.
2. Under the Scale and layout options is a drop down to "Change the size of text, apps and other options. Windows will tell you what the recommended scale is for your screen. If you need everything bigger, select a larger scale eg: 100% to 125%. If you want things smaller, see if you can go the other way. 100% is the smallest you can go so if you need things smaller still, it will be that your screen is a low resolution screen and you can't do much about it.
