動く花押

厳かで格調高く、個性豊かな花押の一つひとつは、はたしてどのような形で書かれたのか、その手順や筆捌きははたしてどこまで追跡再現できるのか、長く模索を続ける課題の一つである。

はやくから東京大学史料編纂所が「花押カードデータベース」を公開している。同じ人間によって十も百もの文献に書き記された花押を並べて眺めれば、それらが自ずから動き出した。ここに、北条氏十六代の執権の花押を纏めてみた。その人の代表的な花押を一点選んで動画にし、その筆順の根拠を示す画像を三点ほど添えた。動画や画像をクリックすれば、上記のデータベースに収録された花押カードを参照することができる。

辞書や参考書などには現われない動く花押を見つめ、新たな発見に繋がることを願う。コメントなど、作者の楊暁捷にお寄せください。

KAO, or personal signature, forms a part of medieval worriers culture tradition. How each of those elegant and unique Kao was written, and in what degree we can reproduce it today?

The Historiographical Institute at The University of Tokyo has released Kao Card Database decades ago. Comparing Kao by the same people from tens or hundreds of documents, an answer starts to appear. This website presents Kao from 16 Hojo Family Chiefs (Shikken). Under each name, one Kao was made into a motion picture, with three additional images to indicate the reason for the brash move. All pictures are linked to the Kao card in the original database.
