Room RDC 10: John W. Wilson - "Collaborative PechaKucha Presentations" (AL, SPEAK)

Digital media tools like Power Point are becoming more utilized in EFL oral presentations, however, these presentations are seldom done well. Collaborative PechaKucha presentations –20 slides automatically set at 20 seconds per slide—inspire and stimulate EFL students to use multimedia by leveraging the cognitive theory of multimedia learning. This workshop presents sample oral presentation materials for attendees to ponder, discuss and consider characteristics of effective PechaKucha presentations. The presenter will provide a communication unit outline and engage with participants about pedagogical choices, allowing space for dialogue between attendees about this unique type of collaborative presentation.
