Room 112: George Wilson: "Rethinking teacher training for the 21st Century" (TTD, IntC) - British Council France
Teacher trainers have great influence over the educational agenda but the understandable need to focus on the intricacies of teaching during teacher-training courses leaves little time for wider discussions around such vital issues as social justice, inclusion and multilingual identities.
This interactive session will begin with an opportunity for participants to share what values they feel should be at the heart of teacher-training programmes. It will then focus on the three elements above, looking both at what they represent and how teacher-training courses can encourage critical reflexion around them.
The speaker will draw on his own experience as a trainer on CELTA and DELTA courses as well as on bespoke courses for French education institutions to provoke a lively exchange of ideas around what teacher education should really look like in the 21st century.
