Room 113: Mary Michaelides-Le Belicard - "Developing skills through role-playing"(HE, BE) - SKEMA Business School

In higher education, we are responsible for preparing our students to face the complex challenges of the 21st century, which with the sanitary crisis, can be highly complex. Unpredictability and adapting to new situations, and demonstrating agility and resilience to new norms, procedures and processes has quickly become a norm. Higher education is sometimes criticised for being disconnected from real-world problems or issues. It seems that in order for our students to tackle this complex and ever-changing world we may have to implement more innovative pedagogical practices. So the questions are : How should we go about designing curriculum with objectives and learning activities that are consistent with developing students’ skills to deal with a complex future. As educators we are wondering right now what these paradigm shifts in educational goals will be and what we need to focus on. In light of this context, it seems relevant to focus on role-playing, its advantages and disadvantages, and how it could develop skills that our students need for the future.
