Room 112: George Kokkolis-Papadopoulos - "Flipped Learning: Flipping the EFL Classroom" - (TECH) - Express Publishing
Flipped learning is a pedagogical methodology that allows students to bridge the gap between learning at home and practice at school. At a time when teachers and learners have become quite familiar with online and blended learning, new technologies can be utilized to create more opportunities for active, in-class engagement. This way, class time becomes more creative and productive, while learning becomes student-centered. Flipped learning enables teachers to offer the individual attention and differentiation all learners need. Thusly, both students and teachers are given the opportunity to follow their own pace. Under their teachers’ guidance, students take ownership of their learning and gain a more profound, experiential understanding of the language. As a result, learners develop the soft skills they need while enjoying creative and productive class time, accomplishing a deeper and more holistic learning outcome. In this presentation, the four pillars of flipped learning will be analyzed, while the step-by-step methodology, as well as its benefits and challenges, will be explored.
