Room 111: Daphne Chisholm-Elie & Gabriella BENKŐ : "Making learning stick with agile teaching" - (TTD, BE) - Business Class Solutions
This interactive workshop is addressed to teachers of busy professionals. First, the attendees discover how an iterative process inspired by agile project management leads to effective learning. It provides structure and flexibility and continuously adapts to learners’ needs, contexts and goals. Secondly, we explore how to bring the process alive by team (teacher-learner) collaboration, co-creation and collective intelligence. Teachers make fewer assumptions, listen more, ask more relevant questions and act accordingly. Establishing two-way open discussion about how and what they learn boosts learners’ autonomy, motivation and awareness.Thirdly, we investigate how the team monitors the learning process by defining indicators and observing the visible evidence of learning. Simultaneously, purposeful self and teacher feedforward are instrumental in securing effective learning. We touch briefly on how applied neuroscience provides useful insights into how adults learn. Teachers’ purpose is to make learning stick and lay the foundation for good learning habits.
