Our world is rapidly changing and children and youth in Canada need to be curious, ask questions and be capable of challenging the status quo in order to succeed. In a world increasingly driven by innovation, the demand for people who can fill science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) - related jobs - will only continue to increase but the reality is that most students in Canada disengage from STEM courses before graduating high school.
The Teacher Librarians Council, (or TLNL SIC) is a special interest council of the NLTA. They are a professional learning community that supports the growth of NL’s teacher-librarians. Whether it is designing a makerspace or creating engaging opportunities in a literary space...these folks are always BOOKing their time to helping others. Overall an incredibly keen and collaberative bunch with a great LIBRARY (pun fully intended) of resources you should check out!
The Math/Science SIC (or MSSIC) is a special interest council of the NLTA. It is a professional learning community that supports the growth of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Math/Science teachers. The large QUANTITY of this SIC's members is a certain indicator of the QUALITY of resources this council has to offer. As the important "M" and "S" of our shared "STEM" acronym, we love seeing what these folks have to offer.
