In December of 2017, we reached about 200 students across three elementary schools in Addis Ababa and two in Hosaena, Ethiopia by raising $2,037 in just two months -the equivalent of 62,000 Ethiopian Birr.
Addis Ababa:
By utilizing about half of the funds (30,000 Birr), we supplied 102 children with full uniforms (pant/skirt, collared shirt, and sweater) at three primary schools in Addis Ababa. These schools include: Bitweded W/G/ Beshah Primary School, Mayday Primary School and Yekatit 23 Special Needs School, in addition to supplying Bitweded with a 100 liter water tank for the purpose of storing water and washing hands before meals in case regular flow of water stops, which is very common across Addis Ababa.
Lenchicho & Whas-Gebeta, Hosaena (Southern Ethiopia): Because of high poverty levels in Lenchicho and Whas-Gebeta, students are not required to wear uniforms. For two schools, Lenchicho Primary School and Whas-Gebeta Primary School, we organized a committee to create a plan to best utilize the funds presented (16,175 Birr each).
