The saurocene started when humans left Terrasauria and the dominant species of terrasauria was now the iberian common lizard (Podarcis hispanicus). In this period of life on Terrasauria, lizards will evolve and diversify to occupy the niches of other reptile groups such as snakes and crocodilians
