I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
· define the concept of Geography
· cited instances where knowledge of geography becomes useful
· explained the value on the importance of geography on geographic study
Content Standard:
· Understanding the importance of landscape in relation to geography.
Performance Standard:
· Promote the appreciation of students to different landscapes of Miagao.

Geography
The word geography comes from two Greek words: geo which means the “earth” and “graphein” which means “to write” or “to draw”. Geography then literally means “earth description.”
Rural
any population, housing, or territory not in an urban area.
Miagao
The name Miagao was derived from the name of a wild plant called “MIAGAOS” that grew abundantly in the place when the Spaniards first came.
Topography
Miagao is partly coastal and partly mountainous town.
Climate
Miagao has two pronounced seasons: dry from November to April and wet during the rest of the year.
The maximum temperature stands at 32.2° C and the minimum is 22.9° C.
There are two prevailing winds in the locality:
the southwest monsoon called “habagat” and the northeast monsoon called “amihan”.

What is landscape?
A landscape is the visible features of an area of land, its landforms, and how they integrate with natural or human-made features, often considered in terms of their aesthetic appeal.
Landscapes of Miagao
Miagao Church
- Miagao is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites here in the Philippines.
- The church’s name is Saint Thomas of Villanova.
Miagao Rice Terraces
- Its panoramic terraces over its 500-hectare rice fields were carved in perpendicular of the mountain barangay with minimal equipment.
Bugsukan falls
- Bugsukan waterfall is a steep fall of a river or other body of water over a rocky ledge into a plunge pool below.
Tinagong Dagat
- DANAO SA MIAGAO known to the locals as TINAGONG DAGAT is a hidden lake situated in the forested area of Barangay Ongyod elevated approximately 3,000 feet above sea level.
