There are two types of strain sensors used on the tensegrity robot. The fabrication process and the characterization of the sensors are described in a previously published paper.
Fabricating the sensors requires some specialized equipment and skills that not everyone will have easy access to. A step-by-step process is described in our assembly instructions. There may be commercial substitutes that work in place of our bespoke sensors, but we have not tested any. If you want to replicate our results but you are unable to make the sensors on your own, contact us to work out how we can get some to you.
