Dan Yount Memorial Tennis Program

The Dan Yount Memorial Tennis Scholarship Program was created to carry forward the legacy of Dan Yount, a Spokane native, accomplished tennis player, and longtime tennis coach whose love of the game was matched by his passion for helping young people discover its many rewards. One of Dan’s wishes was that his generosity be used to introduce and promote tennis to middle-school-aged children—giving young players the opportunity to learn the game, build confidence, develop character, and experience the lifelong friendships and lessons that tennis can provide. This program honors that vision by helping make those opportunities available to the next generation.

We are deeply grateful to the Yount family for their extraordinary generosity and for choosing to turn Dan’s wishes into a lasting gift to the Spokane-area tennis community. Their partnership with TAGS makes it possible to thoughtfully administer the coaching, programming, and scholarships that bring Dan’s vision to life. Through this collaboration, Dan’s love for tennis continues to inspire young players, ensuring that his passion for the sport—and his belief in the positive impact it can have on young lives—will live on for generations to come.

With this generous donation from the Yount family, TAGS was able to administer multiple clinics for a few dozen students between 6th and 9th grades in the summer of 2026. Each youth participant received a youth racket and valuable court time with a certified coach.

Also, ten scholarships are being issued this year for year-round tennis training to help instill the same life-long passion for tennis that Dan Yount had.
