Equipment

Tenacious is a Hanse 345, built in 2012 to the model year 2013 specification. She has the following dimensions and specifications:

• Length 10.4m, 3.4m width, 1.85m draft and 16m aerial draft.
• Dry weight of 6.5 tonnes
• Fin keel, with single rudder, self-tacking jib, storm sail, 3 slab-reef main sail and a code 0 for < 18 knots downwind sailing
• Volvo D1-30 HP diesel engine with sail drive, flexifold prop and rope cutter
• Bowthruster, 3 person inflatable dinghy, 2.5 HP Honda outboard, 4 cockpit winches.
• 3 cabin layout so can sleep 8 (!), or 4 each in their own space
• Electric power is a 90 amp alternator, 320 amp/hr AGM batteries, 100W solar, + shore power
• Zeus 2 Touch 8 B&G plotter, 4G radar, Simrad autohelm, twin repeater screens, Fusion multimedia sound, TV
• Heads with holding tank, shower, stern shower, fridge & freezer, oven, eberspacher heating, full cockpit tent
• Ship VHF, Class B AIS, handheld VHF, EPIRB, Navtex, 8 person liferaft

Preparation for journey and items attended to in the weeks before the journey:

• Seajet 033 antifoul applied in 3 layers
• Propguard applied in 3 layers to propellor and saildrive
• DZR brass below water through-hulls replaced with Tru-Design through-hulls, valves and tails.
• Replaced anodes on saildrive, propellor and bow-thruster
• Saildrive water inlet cleaned
• Gooseneck fitting removed and re-riveted & bolted to mast
• Built and installed folding washboard doors
• Relocated 240V electric cable under floor to galley
• Purchased and fitted new spray hood and cockpit tent
• Fitted mainsheet bridle
• Replaced heads plumbing and pump kit
• Replaced winch pocket
• Fitted bow fender and additional fenders
