Curriculum Overview

Welcome to 3rd Grade!

B'ruchim Ha'Ba'im l'Kitah Gimmel!

Our 3rd grade students will meet weekly on Sunday mornings and on Wednesday afternoons via Zoom. They will continue the exciting journey through the Torah stories of the Book of B'reishit/Genesis and the beginning of the Book of Sh'mot/Exodus, following Abraham's family as they journey to the land of Israel, down to Egypt, and out of slavery to freedom. We will also build our Hebrew knowledge by learning and reviewing the Hebrew letters and by practicing Hebrew Through Movement vocabulary and skills. On Wednesdays, we will begin with a service led by Rabbi Amy and Cantor Doob. This time will be used to work on prayer and prayer meaning, and also to practice our Hebrew skills.

3rd graders with their families will have two family programs during the year. Our fall program will honor our 3rd grade students during our Shabbat and Sukkot Zoom service. Each 3rd grader will receive a special, age appropriate siddur (prayer book) to use during our weekday t'fillah service. We will gather ahead of the service for a special learning session about the prayer book and also to create a special inscription in our books. Receiving a siddur of one's own is an important milestone and we like to celebrate it. Family and friends are invited to share in this special simcha (joyous time).

Each student and family will have a check in with their teacher once a month to see how things are going and to continue to build relationships during the year.

Additional opportunities for our 3rd grade families to connect with the community include: Shabbat Club (monthly) and Temple Isaiah Religious School Community Time (weekly).
