The world of Shin'ar is a supplementary world made for both D&D5e and Pathfinder*. This should be the basics of what you, as the writer, may need to know about the background of any characters originating in this world. If you want further information, you are welcome to DM me or submit a form on my Links page for anonymity and it will be added here when I am able.
*it is available for purchase and pretty easy to find, but I'm not gonna actively promote it here
Shin'ar is a magical world on which numerous peoples and cultures coexist. Among them are the Illumnarus, which is the only one I have on my blog right now so I'm just gonna focus on that for the time being.
The Illumnarus are the descendants of the first species to appear on the planet, the Lluruth. Their opposites, corrupt descendants of the very same, are the Drazil. Illumnarus come in numerous shapes sizes and colors, but they are all united by a similar glow emanating from beneath their skin. It is akin to a candle flickering in the wind, and stronger in some than others, but a uniting factor all the same.
There is no higher calling for some Illumnarus than that of the Crystalmancer; combining martial and magical ability like no other, it is the Crystalmancer's sacred duty to protect and defend Illumnarus communities, even if it means sacrificing their lives. Charged with divine energy, the Crystalmancer is the bane of all undead and evil outsiders.
The Schism was the separation of the Lluruth into Drazil and Illumnarus as a result of a demon corrupting the civilization, weakening it until their goddess was forced to absorb the corruption into herself, resulting in the creation of the Drazil god.
llur elder staves: an illumnarus artifact, these staves were buried centuries to millennia before the 'modern' world in order to absorb the strengths of the elements. only a few were harvested, as the Schism and troubles that followed prevented any coordination to do so. all elder staffs require attunement by a spellcaster
