Born to two veterans, a soldier and a medic, it seemed inevitable that Laura’s life would turn to the same path, but Mary and Matthew Moon did their best to build a life for their daughter that would not force her to pursue such a path unless it was her will.
Throughout most of her life, Laura managed to get good grades, make friends, and be a happy child despite some of the constraints on her family. Matthew could not work, and Mary, a nurse, could only work so many hours before collapsing.
Finances were in dire shape, and although they had promised her an education, Laura was certain she would spend the rest of her days working a dead-end, minimum wage job until the day she died.
In her final year of high school, Laura met a young woman with whom she quickly fell in love with. Tall, blonde, and muscular, Catherine immediately caught her attention, and the two began spending much of their free time together, gradually getting to know one another as the relationship became more and more serious. When Laura finally confessed to uncertainty in the future, it was Catherine who suggested a number of options that were well suited to her strong convictions and desire to help others, including that of becoming a lawyer.
The largest hurdle for Laura to overcome was that of funding for her education in law, a far too expensive goal. Catherine was in much the same position, and after months of consideration, the two decided to enlist with the military while attending college to pay their tuition.
Although together, Catherine and Laura chose separate paths and, unable to fully commit, after a year and a half, the couple broke up and went their separate ways. With a job as midshipman over the summers amidst training, Laura found herself expanding her own knowledge and growing into her own person.
Through her Basic Training, Laura met a fellow soldier named Nate, whom she became fast friends with over their 10 weeks of training. A small group of friends grew around the two, separated only when the training ended and each was shipped to their individual posts.
Laura finished her education and continued along the Officer’s path, eventually being commissioned a Second Lieutenant Justice Advocate, and Nate continued his service overseas. When the two finally saw one another again, it had been nearly 3 years, and despite the obvious obstacles, as the two connected, they began to see one another romantically, staying in contact outside of their duties.
This continued over long distance for 3 more years, at which point the two were assigned to the nearby posts in Afghanistan. Discretion was taken to ensure there would be no violations or confusions regarding chain of command, and for a time, the two were able to associate outside of phone calls, video chats, and whatever other ways they managed to reach out to one another.
Despite the difficulty of their duties and frequent brushes with violence and death, the two were happy.
Like all good things, however, the happiness came to an end when a convoy between their bases that Laura had traveled with was destroyed by an IED. In the aftermath of the attack, she emerged with numerous scars from the debris, a gash in the back of her calf, and was diagnosed with PTSD. At 24 years old, 6 years after her active duty began, Laura’s status was changed to Inactive.
Her communications with Nate were few and far between until, finally, his tour ended and he returned home. The two finally decided to get married - with Laura keeping her own name - and got an apartment together. Although still recovering, Laura began to pursue further education, this time attending Harvard Law School.
It didn’t take long for Laura to become pregnant, and the couple was overjoyed to welcome their son into the world: shaun matthew moon.
Of course, Nate was soon called back to duty, and Laura was left at home with her son and occasional visits from her doting parents. It would be months before news finally reached them that Nate had been Killed in Action, but once it did, the effects of the loss became clear in Laura’s behavior.
She began disappearing at nights, often to be found at the bottom of a bottle, mourning the love she had so suddenly lost. (I have more details than this, I am not romanticizing alcoholism; it is a complex topic that I don’t have enough space to detail here)
Still wholly devoted to her son, however, Laura slowly pulled herself from the depths of her depression, doing her best to care for Shaun while balancing her own occupation as a defense lawyer.
A Titan Pilot during the Frontier War, Laura was the child of two soon-to-be IMC defectors alongside MacAllan and numerous others to the planet Troy. For 15 years, she would live alongside the renegades and learn how to fight and defend what she considered her home.
By the time Blisk had found them, Laura was 23 and retreated with the militia members. she would only learn of her parents’ demise upon the arrival of the M-COR and the group’s subsequent rescue.
Although she mourned, Laura quickly joined the Militia Fleet, eventually making her way to become a Pilot. She would eventually be killed amidst an attack on the Hestia II, but her body was recovered and her mind placed into a Simulacrum by the in the hopes of using her tactical knowledge against the Frontier Militia by the IMC &, later on, the Syndicate.
Eventually, her usefulness ran out, and the simulacrum known as Tide was discarded - only to be refurbished and submitted to the Apex Games.
Born to the harsh streets and doomed to die in the same, Laura was raised by loving parents who did their best to provide her with the kind of love that seemed so lacking in the City. As she grew older, she began to take on various jobs that would earn her money her family was lacking, doing her best to provide for aging parents who would later be killed in a raid by Arasaka on their small store. Laura sought a way out, and shortly after finishing high school, she was offered a place with Militech in private security, training and post-secondary education provided with a term of 7 years.
Poached by Arasaka following her husband’s death and her own pregnancy, Laura is provided with further education in order to become a corporate lawyer. It pays good money, allowing her to support her son as a single widowed mother.
Discovered to have been feeding information to opposing sides in multiple lawsuits, Laura was targeted by Arasaka and forced to fake her own death to escape their wrath. Though the shock of the change was profound, Laura quickly recovered, using the intimate knowledge for which she should have been killed to steal from Arasaka and redistribute their wealth - with a portion going to her own funds, of course.
Born to Mary and Matthew Moon in Port Knot City, Laura chose to become a porter at the age of 18 out of curiosity for the larger world beyond the city. Hiking throughout the land and fending off MULES as best she can, Laura began to grow strong and develop skills that few others would gain in the secluded cities.
Everything changed when she met a young man named Nate, a fellow porter who worked closer to Capital Knot City. The two fell in love shortly thereafter, working together to keep their packages safe, until Laura became pregnant.
Nate promised it would be his last run - then they could settle down; start anew. And she believed him.
If only his last run wasn't to Central Knot City.
Now living with her parents in Port Knot City once more, Laura continues to take the occasional porter job, if only to escape the home that feels far too empty to stand.
Born to a City Elf and a Hedge Mage, Laura was raised in the Denerim Alienage by her father following her mother’s disappearance. Her father worshiped the old gods in secret, teaching her these ways and doing the best he could to provide some kind of normal life without her mother. When Laura first demonstrated an ability to connect to the fade, her father quickly covered it up,-+ attempting to keep her safe from the Circles and those who might take action against her for it. Despite his warnings, she practiced in secret, often sneaking out of the Alienage and Denerim to do so.
Shortly after she turned 18, the self-taught control Laura had managed slipped up when a soldier began harassing her father; in the span of a few seconds, she grabbed the man, channeling electricity through his armor and killing him almost instantly. Laura fled the area, heading northwest and fending for herself, eventually finding a Dalish clan which accepted her as one of their own in the Coastlands.
defrosting earlier due to a real malfunction of the cryogenic chambers, Laura lost her parents, husband, and child in escaping. Boston too harsh a reminder of the past, Laura departs for DC to learn what she could of the Wasteland.
After a few years, she joined a caravan going to New Vegas and lingered there.
Growing up in the settlement of Quincy was nearly as nice as one would imagine; though it was no Diamond City, there was education, reliable defense, and enough food to support the small population. Laura had her mother, her father, living in an old house, run-down but cozy. Nice as it was, as she grew older, the settlement began to feel restricting; she needed to get out. Around 23 years old, she went on her own, exploring and returning home every couple months to visit. Her last visit was only a week before the gunners attacked. The news only traveled through caravans, which she had begun guarding regularly, so it had been two weeks after the attack when Laura learned of the tragedy. The loss hit her hard and she abandoned her for-hire jobs to drift through the wasteland, simply surviving and leaving a trail of dead gunners in her wake.
Throughout her initial travels, Laura had joined up with the Railroad as a heavy. Her family’s death caused her role to lessen, and for a time, she instead acted as a tourist. If Laura joins the Sole Survivor, when not accompanying them, she will continue to act as such. As the plot progresses, she will resume her role as a heavy and occasionally disappear from wherever the Survivor last left her for days at a time. If the Sole Survivor allies with the Institute or Brotherhood, when they are instructed to destroy Railroad’s HQ, they will find Laura present and be forced to kill her or otherwise resolve things. If they have already killed more than half of the Railroad or resume fighting after settling with her, she will attack until killed..
Born to a veteran and medic, Laura lived far from a life of luxury in Boston. Although she was far from a perfect student, she found herself achieving decent grades, leading to a great many possibilities for schooling after high school… Were it not for the cost. Faced with few other options, Laura enlisted with the Military through the Officers Candidate Course.
She continued through college and training, eventually finding herself off the coast of Alaska, fighting the Chinese Dragoons in an effort to protect the resources of the area. Although she disagreed with the choices of the military, Laura could not bring herself to defect, an inaction which she still regrets.
She had met Nate at Basic, although their acquaintance was brief- in Alaska, however, their time together was anything but. When Nate was injured on one particular mission, the only survivor of his platoon, she understood not only the depth of her feelings for him, but that she was pregnant as well.
As Nate recovered, his injuries not quite severe enough to warrant an immediate return to the Continental States, Laura continued with her duties until the 8th month of her pregnancy, at which point she was sent back to Boston. Nate followed shortly thereafter on leave, and the two prepared to begin their lives together.
If only the universe had allowed such a thing.
Within months of Shaun’s birth, the world fell apart, and the couple found themselves fleeing their home to Vault 111, where they would find solace... for more than a century.
Awoken from their unexpected slumber by the voice of a killer, eyes meet one last time before the light is extinguished in Nate’s eyes, Shaun is stolen, and Laura is forced back beneath waves of unconsciousness.
A relatively successful lawyer from Boston, Laura Moon was born and raised in the city. She’s dealt with people from outside the city before, especially when working pro bono, but even these were still within the confines of Massachusetts’ borders.
It was a surprise, then, for Laura to receive word from Montana, along with a large sum, notifying her that she was being hired for a case there. If it weren’t for the accompanying story, she might have refused both the money and the job…
A religious group had taken hold of Hope County; had taken in numerous people and supposedly brain washed them into joining the grassroots cult. It was a hell of a story, and hard to believe all on its own. But along with the e-mail was a video clip- short, sweet, and to the point, a man trying to approach what appeared to be his brother in an attempt to speak with him. The two bore a clear familial resemblance, but the target of the video… It was eerie, just how unresponsive the man was. How glazed over his eyes appeared.
Perhaps it was foolish of her to think that she could tackle a religious group all on her own; simply her and the law, and the hopes that not everyone in the area was corrupt. But when reaching out to contacts in law enforcement, Laura was assured that legal repercussions were coming for the Seed family, and swiftly.
With these assurances, Laura booked time off and set out for Hope County, Montana, hoping to make a difference and help those who had been displaced by the cult to seek legal reparations once the dust had settled.
If only it was that simple.
Born to a small family in Boston, Laura disguised herself as a boy in order to join the British Navy. In the process, she became an Officer, revered enough that when she was ultimately discovered to be a woman, Laura was let off without charges - and approached by another naval officer with a marriage proposal.
Laura accepted, if only for the possibilities such a union might present for her following the pleas of her parents.
However, the union was short-lived, as her husband was killed at sea shortly thereafter. Laura struggled to adjust to life as a widow; the two had no children, and their estate left Laura wanting for nothing but the adventure she had experienced at sea. Taking a private vessel, they were unfortunately waylaid by a pirate crew helmed by Celia.
After beating one of Celia’s crewmates in swordsmanship, but otherwise finding herself surrounded, Laura accepted an offered place among the pirates.

Shortly after the IED incident, Laura is sent home to finish recovering from her injuries. She would be present in Raccoon City in the days leading up to the outbreak, barely escaping in the chaos, and being separated from her husband in the process.

A young, aspiring senator before the Republic's fall, Laura would join the rebellion in her twenties, giving birth to a son and losing her husband all within the same year.
When the Empire fell, she achieved her dream of becoming a senator, but was killed in the display of power shown by the First Order.
She was at work when the world ended, though time certainly did not stop.
She returned home to find her son and husband gone, and though it took time, Laura eventually accepted their deaths - though not without severe grief.
After meeting up with Celia, the pair find a number of other survivors and take them in, traveling together in search of safe haven.
One such prospect was unfortunately decimated when a horde of undead came through, killing all but Celia and Laura, and separating the two.
Now alone, Laura wanders with the dead, paying no mind to most people unless shown hostility first. She still hopes to settle down, but does not let those hopes get the best of her.
