Originally from Jakarta, Indra Leonardo moved to Bali at the age of 14 after winning a national skateboarding competition. Growing up in two radically different cities gave him a deep appreciation for culture, contrast, and movement. With no formal training in fashion or business, he carved his path through skateboarding, photography, and music three passions that would later shape the foundation of Televisi Star.
In 2016, what started as a small media project documenting skate clips, underground music, and street culture quietly transformed into a brand. Indra never planned to become a designer. But when the pandemic hit, he taught himself to sew baggy pants and rework old clothes for friends in his circle. Word spread. Orders followed. Suddenly, the idea of a brand rooted in real community, not just hype, began to take shape.
Now based between Bali and Jakarta, Indra runs Televisi Star not as a fashion label, but as a living archive of the things he and his friends care about: skateboarding, sustainability, music, street photography, and Indonesian subcultures. From fabrics sourced locally to zines printed by hand, everything in the brand carries a sense of place and story.
When he’s not working on new collections or building skate ramps, Indra spends his time digging through record stores, documenting city life with his old 35mm camera, and brainstorming with fellow artists. He still skates almost every day because for him, skateboarding isn’t a phase or a brand aesthetic. It’s where everything started.
