Te Kura o Tahaaroa (TKOT) was originally opened as Taharoa Maori Native school in this very same place on 02 October 1911 with a role of 28 students, in 1963 we were renamed Taharoa School, and Te Kura o Tahaaroa in 2000.
Through our school gates you are greeted by our Old Girl that has been a part of our school since 1911 [original school building]. Our newest building established in 2016 known as the Multi-purpose room stands opposite her, and further along from her you are enter our warm and welcoming administration, and staffroom, then on to our classrooms blocks that have all been established over the past 10 years.
Our healthy property footprint also consists of a hard court area, a swimming pool, a full sized playground and a sports field.
Over the past few years there have been significant developments including teacher involvement in professional development relating to information and communication technologies (ICT), and teaching practices that are responsive to the cultural needs and diversity of students;
