acrylic on brick, october 2021
I am extremely proud of this one-woman work...in between class and work, I dragged my scaffolding out to this 14 x 18 ft wall. Had I been more experienced, I would have projected the image prior to laying paint. Alternatively, if I had someone to help me grid it out, I would have chosen that path.
The result of taking neither of the latter routes? This weird free-handed look into my brain...kind of the weird vivid dreams you get when you fall asleep to the TV, to background noise, or even after a long day of expending brain power. An in-between stage that is neither here nor there.
I met a lot of interesting characters while painting on the side of the road, and many gifts were bestowed upon me: a back scratcher, someone's life story (for 5 hours), some beers, and a critique of my work from each passerby!
