Travis Matthew Lopez

An Incredible Man:

Travis was an intelligent and caring soul. In his home across the street from SJSU, he advocated for the power of education to elevate others and the importance of technological innovation for social good. He was well read with a library of over 300 books on philosophy, health, and technology, to name a few. Most importantly, Travis had a kind heart. He never looked down on anyone who came from a difficult or controversial past. He never brought people down but brought people together. In jokes between friends he would lift us up. Indeed he was a leader. "What are you working on?" "How we doing?" and "I'm just posted up here," were a few common things Travis would say.

A Model Student:

Travis earned the designation of Outstanding Graduating Senior of 2013. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in MIS with a 3.94 GPA. Travis served in leadership at the Entrepreneurial Society and the Executive Leadership Council. In his spare time, he worked on his passion of starting a business for social good called Mobedio. It was an online public opinion platform designed to increase community participation during and in between elections. Travis became a Salzburg Scholar, where he promoted the idea of a global citizenship mentality and importance of civic engagement. He received a Thompson Global Internship where he worked in Hong Kong for several weeks. He was accepted into the Gary J Sbona Honors program where he worked on a team to build a web app for the city of San Jose.

A Successful Professional:

He was an Education Program Manager at PeopleSoft, a Business Systems Analyst with the Strategic Innovation Group at Netapp, and a Project Manager at Advanced Social Innovation and Crowddoing.
