We recommend that you do, as TEDx talk are all about stories and engagement. When you have cue cards, this flow and connection can be broken. However, if need be, you may use cue cards. Last year we had one person do this and it worked fine.
Around 10-15 minutes for each talk. 15 minutes is a set maximum.
Yes - as long as your talk is about something that interests you, the choices of topic are limitless. You can honestly speak about anything at all! We would love to have as wide and diverse a range of talks as possible.
Last year, the event sold out very quickly. This year, as both JAGS and DC are involved, we expect interest to be high once again - this would mean presenting to an audience of around 150 people.
Yes. We recommend using slides and visuals for your audience to look at during your talk. However, you are also not required to. If you do have slides, remember to keep text to a minimum. We will meet to discuss your talk and slides multiple times.
You do not need any public speaking experience. We will run a lunch time class led by one of the governers on some speaking skills. Remember that knowing your script well allows you to talk much more confidently and freely.
TEDx is about engagement and stories - the talks are not lectures, but more about people sharing their interests and passions to an audience!
No, not at all. There will be no winner. It is a symposium of intriguing talks, nothing more.
We understand how genuinely useful AI can be. Therefore, AI may be used for research and planning. According to the TEDx Guidelines, we will fact check your talk; make sure it is all correct - we may ask you for your sources if we cannot independantly verify your points.
We highly reccomend not writing any of your actual script with AI. While using AI to plan and generate feedback on scripts is useful, scripts written by AI will:
Not sound engaging or genuine
Not match your slides
Miss out details and important facts
If you are presenting on something you are genuinely passionate about, you will not need to use AI!
