This year's theme: alternatives

The theme of this year's talks is alternatives. Your talk should incorporate this idea, likely having the word in your title, but you can stretch to a wide variety of topics and ideas.

Some talk examples are:

• Alternatives to fossil fuels

• The alternative human (Gene editing)

• Alternative realities

• Carbon capture: the best alternative?

• Alternative histories

• An alternative to free will

What is tedx?

TEDx is the branch of TED talks that are organised independantly of the TED organisation. They follow the same structure of short overviews of a topic that is accessible to a wide audience. The talks are not lectures. They are meant to be engaging, relatable and accessible to a wide audience. They are often meant to intrigue, rather than give people a complete understanding.

last year

The theme of last year's event was Bridges. We had some brilliant talks including:

• The etymology of the word Bridge

• The last bridge between North and South Korea

• Language: The Bridge in Evolution

• Bridging the gap between General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics 

• Social Media: Humanities' Worst Bridge

Last year, the event was Dulwich College exclusive. This year, we have brought in JAGS to increase the breath of topics and views that can be heard.
