Teddy Teece

Managing Partner of KEA Capital Partners

Teddy Teece is the Managing Partner of Kea Capital Partners (KCP), an investment firm that connects international capital with New Zealand's light industrial sector. His career includes work as an entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist, with experience building companies in finance, technology, executive coaching, and real estate. Across these ventures, he has worked to align purpose, profit, and planet while addressing global, overlooked, or unusual market inefficiencies and problems.

Teddy's perspective comes from five generations of family ties to New Zealand and an early life shaped by experiences across two hemispheres and both coasts. This background has helped him develop a global entrepreneurial outlook while staying committed to service. In his current roles, he works with discerning, long-term, lifestyle-oriented investors who seek financial returns while also building stronger connections to New Zealand and contributing to its economy, environment, and infrastructure.

Building Bridges Between New Zealand and Global Capital

As Founder & Managing Partner of KCP, Teddy leads acquisition strategies throughout the ‘golden triangle,’ with a focus on light industrial sectors. The firm's investment approach focuses on acquiring, growing, and consolidating established, reliable businesses that support the country's infrastructure. Through KCP, he is raising capital from families and investors who want to establish residency in New Zealand while also making a meaningful contribution to the country and its economy.

He spent his first year at Wharton’s Executive MBA developing KCP’s business plan and thesis. During that time, he focused on creating strong advisory relationships, stress-testing the business plan, and evaluating the timing of the opportunity. KCP now offers a geopolitical insurance product for people concerned about macro-economic uncertainty and for those who see NZ’s position as one of the world’s safest and most stable countries to live and invest in as an increasingly valuable proposition. He developed an investment model that combines traditional private equity and search fund approaches with local partnerships, community-based events, and philanthropic opportunities. The platform is designed for investors who value both financial outcomes and quality of life.

From Entrepreneurial Operator to Investment Leader

Before founding KCP, Teddy held several roles across sectors. He served as Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer of Expert Capital Partners, where he helped build an investment bank that achieved rapid early growth and processed eight- and nine-figure transactions.

Before entering finance, he co-founded LocalEyez, a marketplace for unique experiences, and built the business through The Icehouse incubator while developing partnerships with providers such as JUCY. His professional background also includes family business consulting. He co-founded The Legacy Academy as a service line of Berkeley Research Group (BRG), where he supported global business families, executives, and next-generation leaders across the United States, the Middle East, and New Zealand. At BRG and TLA, he created leadership programs and assessment tools for family business teams and provided strategic succession planning for multinational firms. During this period, he also contributed to leadership development programs involving executives from major international alliances, helping future leaders strengthen both personal and professional capabilities.

Creating Value Beyond the Balance Sheet

Outside finance, travel technology, and consulting, Teddy has developed a non-profit & executive retreat destination near Boulder, Colorado. He has worked to steward and improve the forty-acre property as a place for connection, reflection, wellness, and community. Reflecting his Kiwi background and hands-on approach, he has built a number of the property's features himself and has also led teams as a general contractor.

He continues to devote time, energy, and resources to developing and maintaining the sanctuary as an incubator where service, belonging, DIY, and wellbeing remain central principles. He also seeks to reflect these values through charitable partnerships and service. He sits on the C4 Foundation advisory board alongside Medal of Honor recipients and has supported Navy SEAL families through the organization since 2017. He has also helped raise six- and seven-figure sums for charities such as Project HEAL.

Advocacy, Service, and Community Impact

Teddy believes that many of the challenges facing society today call for stronger local communities, greater personal resilience, and more open discussion around mental health. Through Maka Sanctuary, the nonprofit arm of the retreat organization, and future educational ventures, he hopes to create spaces where individuals, families, and leaders can engage with these issues in meaningful and practical ways. His work increasingly focuses on helping people build healthier foundations from which they can pursue success, leadership, and service.

Scholarship, Athletics, and Personal Development

Teddy is an Executive MBA candidate at University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.

A Long-Term View of Leadership

Today, he works alongside an NZ-based team of seasoned business leaders, invests time and resources in charitable organizations, and spends time working the land, writing, drumming, and adventuring. Whether helping investors identify opportunities, supporting mental health projects, or creating places for learning and healing, he focuses on building organizations and communities that can endure for decades.

Teddy Teece continues to approach his work through stewardship and service, believing lasting success comes from long-term, aligned partnerships and a strong sense of shared purpose.
