Teddies For Happiness History

Teddies For Happiness Charitable Foundation was created in the late summer/early fall of 2023.  Teddies For Happiness Founder, Landan Hoenig, had originally come up with an idea to start a charity toy collection with law enforcement agencies while interning with a local Long Island town police department.  While trying to figure out how to go about doing a charity toy collection, Our founder paused the idea to wait until the summer to truly work to make a great charity and host great charity events.  Teddies For Happiness is oriented on helping bring joy to children in underprivileged situations through donations of toys and to also bring some fun and happy events to the community.  Over the next few years, Teddies For Happiness, is planning on adding a few more fun charity events helping the community that is in need while also connecting our first responders and the community.

The main charity event that Teddies For Happiness hosts is the Annual Long Island Law Enforcement Charity Touch-A-Truck Toy Drive.  This event is the charity foundations Superbowl event as it is the charities founding event.  This event as being law enforcement oriented is a nod to the idea our Founder Landan had for doing a toy drive while interning with a local police department.  This event while having the main focus of the toy drive; also focuses on building community-law enforcement relations, let the community ask questions, offer an opportunity to also let people interested in a career in law enforcement speak with a variety of different agencies, learn about law enforcements role in the community, and see snippets of law enforcement through demonstrations and exhibits of vehicles and gear.  As our founder Landan continues to build up this event, he came to the realization that Long Island is a unique geographic area in American Policing besides Washington D.C., the Capitol of the United States of America.  Long Island has four counties: two being the New York City boroughs of Queens (Queens County) and Brooklyn (Kings County), Nassau County, and Suffolk County.  With having the unofficial world capital, influential and historical places, and some of the biggest summer destinations where the whole world goes too, law enforcement is a needed key to keep the Island safe.  By having all different types of agencies from New York City to the East End; from the Federal, Military, State, County, and municipal levels focusing on different aspects of the laws.  This event is to also let the community interact with law enforcement in a positive light instead of in a more negative light through a 911 call.  In today's world, relations between law enforcement and the community is a roller coaster; and by creating this event, our founder wants to create a place to let the community to ask questions and to talk and learn.
