Hi Class!
Welcome to ECE103 Class! In this class:
1.You apply the Engineering Design Process learned from ECE102 to perform a system level design analysis, “(sample) Solar Bike Design”
2.You apply MATLAB to solve Math & Engineering problems.
3.You create a System Block diagram (sample) and a Control Flow Chart (sample) using CAD software.
4.You explore the concept of A.I. (Artificial intelligence) and Machine Learning. You will have opportunity to experiment with A.I./Machine Learning.
5.For the Final project, you have the options of experimenting:
option a: Game Development using Unity for Newbie. (sample demo from previous class/FPS: Michael Ennamorato),
option b: Media Server for the beginner using HTML & Java script.(Media Server Demo 4+4)
[Note: Final Project is independent of the rest of the class, Assignments for Final Project will be posted early(after we completed MATLAB), and you can work on it anytime after it is posted. One thing about the Final Project, the more time you have, the more fun it is.]
The most important thing to do the first week is to meet your classmates & form a team of 2.
For Hybrid class: on the first day of class, I will make time for you to chat with each others & form a team of 2, do seating assignments in the class room.
It is important to reach out to your classmate, because I treat each assignment like a test, as an instructor, I will not help you to find the solution for the test; however, because we have a study group of 2 system, you can reach out to your classmate, chat & compare notes, just no copy & paste.
(Note: some of you like to go SOLO, it is OK. However, when you go SOLO, you are really on your own; if you need help, I am going to ask you to reach out to your classmate).
Assignments are due every Friday by 11:59pm. Each assignment will be posted 2 weeks in advance. So, your strategy is to stay on top of schedule, never fall behind. If you are ahead of schedule, you have plenty of time to work out the problems, you are going "Down Hill"; if you are behind schedule, you don't have time and therefore rushing, you are going "Uphill". Believe it or not, going "Down Hill" is much easier than going "Uphill"!
I have dedicated this website for our class. It has all detailed instructions and rubric for each assignment for this class including all the resources that you need to complete your tasks.

I am pretty sure I am done with Assignment #2, but I just wanted to clarify a few questions before I submit it for grading. I think I did it correctly since I just followed the PowerPoint example you posted for the assignment on the ECE103 class website. I followed the steps to solve each equation in the PowerPoint. Is that all we need to do? Or is there more for this assignment? Also, electricity is very new to me and I am having a hard time understanding the difference between capacity and voltage. I did some research and I think I understand that voltage represents the amount of power required and capacity is the amount of energy in each battery. A2. We need 4 x 12 V batteries in series to achieve 48 V, that only gives us 48 V, 5 Ah (in series to increase voltage)
to get 48 V ,15 Ah we need 3 columns of 48 V, 5 Ah batteries. (in parallel to increase Ah)
total batteries required: 3 (columns) x 4 (batteries in each column) = 12
