The following is the techlink database we used in our paper (in STATA format). The data includes pairwise technology similarity between firms from 1926-2010.
The variables include:
1) patyear: the year end we identiy technology similarity
2) permno: Datastream primary permno for the focal firm
3) permno1: Datastream primary permno for the peer firm
4) nissyear: number of years the focal firm issued patents in the past 5 years
5) nissyear1: number of years the peer firm issued patents in the past 5 years
6) tec: technology similarity between firms
