If you want a versatile, wireless companion that adapts to noisy commutes and keeps your music pristine on the go, choose Technics Hi-Res; if you need an immersive, wired listening experience for critical home sessions where detail and soundstage matter most, choose SENDYAUDIO Apollo Open-Back Planar.
These two headphones solve completely different problems. One is a high-tech travel tool designed to disappear into the background while delivering studio-quality audio in chaotic environments. The other is a dedicated audiophile instrument built to reveal every nuance of a recording in a quiet room. I have analyzed the specifications, driver technology, and intended use cases for both to help you decide which one fits your life. This comparison focuses specifically on how each performs when used for sleeping or relaxing at home, as this is often the deciding factor for buyers torn between portable convenience and pure sonic fidelity.
• Technics Hi-Res: Its greatest strength is the 3-mode hybrid active noise cancellation that instantly adapts to airplane cabins or busy streets, but it trades off true open-air immersion for its closed-back design.
• SENDYAUDIO Apollo Open-Back Planar: It delivers massive clarity with a 68mm planar magnetic driver and wood housing that creates a wide soundstage, but it lacks any isolation and requires a wired connection to work.
• Who each pick is for: The Technics is ideal for travelers and commuters who need silence; the SENDYAUDIO is for home listeners who prioritize accuracy over mobility.
The Technics EAH-F70N is engineered for people who live in motion. If your daily routine involves trains, buses, airplanes, or loud offices, this headphone is built to handle those specific environments without forcing you to crank the volume to dangerous levels. The core of its performance lies in the hybrid active noise-cancelling system, which uses a combination of feedforward and feedback microphones to suppress noise before it reaches your ears. You aren't stuck with one setting; the three-mode selector allows you to switch between High Noise Level (airline cabins), Medium Noise Level (buses and trains), and Low Noise Level (cafes and crowds). This flexibility means you can walk from a bustling airport terminal into a quiet lounge without fumbling with settings or removing the headphones.
For those considering a hi res headset for sleeping or napping in noisy dorms, the Technics offers a unique advantage: it blocks out the world. While open-back headphones are terrible for sleeping because they leak sound, the closed-back design of the Technics acts as a physical barrier against external noise. The ball joint mechanism allows the ear cups to move in three dimensions, ensuring a comfortable fit that doesn't pinch even when you are lying on your side. However, you must be aware that "sleeping" with these is about blocking the environment, not necessarily the comfort of a soft pillow. The aluminum construction provides durability, but the weight and clamping force are designed for upright sitting, not necessarily all-night rest.

The audio quality here is defined by the 40 mm dynamic-tuned drivers with a composite performance film diaphragm. These drivers are optimized for fast response and high definition, supporting Bluetooth codecs like LDAC and apt-X HD to ensure that wireless transmission doesn't compromise the fidelity of high-resolution files. If you value convenience, the playback pause sensor is a game-changer; simply lifting the headphones off your head stops the music, and placing them back resumes it seamlessly. Combined with the ambient sound enhancement feature, which lets you hear traffic or announcements with a touch, this device is a master of situational awareness. It is perfect for the professional who needs to focus during a flight but stay alert to their surroundings upon landing.
However, there are trade-offs. Because it is a closed-back, wireless unit, it cannot replicate the expansive, natural airiness of an open-back system. The sound is contained within the ear cups, creating a more intimate but less spatially accurate image compared to open designs. Furthermore, reliance on Bluetooth and battery life means you are tethered to charging cycles. If you are looking for the ultimate best neckband headphones for sleeping, you might find the form factor too bulky for side sleepers, though the noise cancellation is unmatched for blocking out snoring partners or street noise.
In stark contrast, the SENDYAUDIO Apollo is a stationary beast designed for the living room, home office, or studio. It is not meant to be packed into a bag or taken on a commute. The defining feature here is the open-back architecture, which allows air to flow freely through the ear cups. This design eliminates the "boxy" sound typical of closed headphones, resulting in a transparent, clean soundstage where instruments feel like they are located in front of you rather than inside your head. The 68mm large-diameter planar magnetic driver is the heart of this experience. Unlike standard dynamic drivers, this planar driver uses a uniform magnetic field across a large surface area, providing deep, solid bass and bright treble with exceptional detail retrieval.
The build quality speaks to a love of craftsmanship. The housing is made of wood, which adds a warm, organic aesthetic and likely influences the acoustic properties to reduce resonance. The steel mesh reflects light in a way that honors the "Apollo" name, giving it a premium look that stands apart from the industrial plastic of many competitors. Inside, the driver has undergone years of experimentation to balance magnetic distance and internal damping, resulting in natural and soft vocals. If you are a critical listener who wants to hear the subtle breath of a vocalist or the decay of a cymbal, this is the machine for you. The 16-ohm impedance makes it relatively easy to drive, though it still benefits from a decent amplifier to fully realize its potential.
When thinking about for sleeping, the SENDYAUDIO Apollo presents significant challenges. Because it is open-back, it offers zero isolation. Sound leaks out easily, meaning anyone else in the room will hear what you are listening to. Conversely, ambient noises from the room—snoring, traffic, or a partner moving around—will bleed right into your ears. This makes it a poor choice for sleeping unless you are in a perfectly silent environment. However, if your goal is to listen to calming, high-fidelity nature sounds or classical music in bed without the pressure of active noise cancellation, the ergonomic headband ensures it wears lightly with no fatigue after long sessions. The lack of electronics also means you never have to worry about a dying battery in the middle of a track.
The cable is another critical factor. It comes with a 6N OCC braided cable featuring a special spring design to increase lifespan. This ensures no signal loss during transmission, but it also tethers you to your source. There is no Bluetooth, no wireless freedom. You must sit near your player or phone. This restriction is a small price to pay for the superior audio fidelity, but it fundamentally changes the product from a mobile accessory to a piece of home audio equipment. The 12-month warranty offered by SIVGA/SENDYAUDIO provides peace of mind regarding the build quality, which includes a robust connection port and durable materials.

I would buy the Technics Hi-Res if my primary goal was to enjoy high-quality music for sleeping in a real-world environment where noise exists. The ability to block out the world with active noise cancellation is essential for rest, and the wireless freedom means I won't wake up tangled in cables. However, if I were setting up a dedicated listening chair in a quiet room and wanted the absolute best possible audio fidelity without worrying about battery life, I would choose the SENDYAUDIO Apollo. Its planar magnetic driver and open-back design offer a purity of sound that is unmatched in this comparison. Ultimately, for the average user seeking a balance of quality and utility, the Technics wins on versatility, while the SENDYAUDIO wins on pure sonic artistry.
The Technics Hi-Res is better for sleeping due to its active noise cancellation and closed-back design, which blocks out external disturbances. The SENDYAUDIO Apollo is open-back, so it lets sound in and out, making it unsuitable for noisy rooms.
While the 16-ohm impedance is relatively low, planar magnetic drivers often benefit from a dedicated amplifier to reach their full potential. The Technics works directly from a phone via Bluetooth.
The Technics offers a balanced, controlled sound optimized for wireless codecs and noise cancellation. The SENDYAUDIO provides a wider, more detailed soundstage with deeper bass and clearer highs thanks to its planar magnetic driver.
The Technics connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0 with support for LDAC and apt-X HD. The SENDYAUDIO requires a wired connection using the included 2.5mm cable to a compatible source.
