Built in 1918 and opened in 1921, the Orpheum Theater New Orleans, known then as the RKO Orpheum Theatre, became one of the Gulf Coast’s premiere vaudeville theaters. Designed by G. Albert Lansburgh, this Beaux Arts style iconic space has hosted vaudeville acts, silent films, movies, Mardi Gras balls, weddings, and countless concerts for almost 100 years. 

 The Orpheum is one of the few remaining vertical hall designs in the US. Because of the acoustical purity and perfect sight lines, the Orpheum was the ideal place to become the home of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, who still perform here to this day. 

 The Orpheum Theater was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. 

 In 2005, the Theater was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent levee failure floodwaters. Forced to close, the theater lay dormant until 2011 when new ownership began major renovations. 

 The Orpheum re-opened in August 2015, entirely renovated and passionately preserved. The theater boasts a fully updated, state-of-the-art Sound, Lights, and Video System to complement the original acoustic layout.  More than a stunning historical structure, this reimagined space brings an entirely new tier of entertainment venue to New Orleans.
