The Orpheum is a Non-Union Facility
The Orpheum Theater is not affiliated with any collective bargaining labor organizations. We welcome union labor in our venue, but there are no standing arrangements with any union local.
As a non-union house, we still recognize the value of our labor force and staff, and strive to treat each employee with the professional standard they deserve. Accordingly, we do enforce a level of fair labor practices to ensure the proper treatment of our labor, protect the facility, and ensure the highest possible production.
While all productions require varying amounts of stage and production labor, there are house minimum labor calls for different events.
Banquet and reception events may require a minimum of (3) stagehands of the crew; Stage Manager/Flyman, Audio Technician, Electrician/Lighting Technician. Additional labor may be required, depending on the event needs, room changes, AV presentations, etc.
Concert events require additional required minimum labor calls. There would be a minimum of (5) stagehands for these type of events; Stage Manager/Flyman, (2) Audio Technicians, Electrician/Lighting Technician, and Stagehand/Crew Chief. Additional labor may be required for any concerts.
Stage/Production labor must be advanced with the Orpheum Theater for any additional labor required for your event/show. This would include stagehands, facility personnel, riggers, lighting technicians, audio technicians, video technicians, backline, fork lift operators, truck loaders, security staff, VIP/merch staff, etc. Our department heads/technicians are working heads, but do stay in their department. General stagehands are allowed to cross departments.
Labor calls are typically scheduled with a (4) hour minimum call. We ask that a 15 minute break be scheduled every 2 hours, and a meal break be available after 5 hours on any call. While not always applicable, overtime rates shall apply after 10 hours on any one day event. We take pride in our flexibility, while still maintaining the highest labor standards.
Please contact us to make advance arrangements for the labor required to successfully produce your show, and discuss labor and staffing rates and schedules.
Also, we can discuss any additional equipment that may be needed to accomplish your production goals. We can assist you in arrangements for supplemental audio, lighting, video, computers and presentation equipment, backline, rigging, fork lifts, event tables, event seating, catering equipment, etc.
