Club Meetings are Biweekly on Fridays @ Lunch
Tech4Kids is a student-run school club founded by two students (Brendan Lyons - Sophmore & Sebastian Dos Santos - Junior), who currently attend Canyon Crest Academy. They are enthusiastic about the field of tech and specialize in computer building and want to share and teach others about this extraordinary topic while being able to donate the working and fully built computers to those who need it or can't afford it such as disadvantaged kids.
Tech4Kids offers meetings every other week available to all Canyon Crest Academy Students. We aim to teach CCA kids how to build their own computers, thereby teaching them the technology and business skills required as part of this rich and fun experience. They will design and build a custom-built computer by selecting parts and making cost tradeoffs. Then, they will assemble the parts and learn how to troubleshoot problems, and finally enjoying the end product, appreciating building something from scratch (perhaps with their parents or siblings) while saving considerable amounts of money.
We also aim to do our part to reduce the "digital divide" in San Diego. While our club is free to attend, donations from attendees of our meetings are appreciated for the continued learning experience of building a computer. We will also use that money to subsidize those who cannot afford to pay for everything (or anything) themselves - including reaching out to schools that cater to disadvantaged kids, such as the Monarch School.
