Section 1 The Name of the organization shall be “Tech Deaf Culture Alliance”.
Section 1 The purpose of this organization is to provide opportunities for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing students at Texas Tech University to meet and collaborate with others in an environment that promotes Deaf culture.
Section 1 Membership Requirements
Any Texas Tech University student interested in learning about or involved in Deaf culture is allowed to join our organization.
Members must represent the organization and Texas Tech University in a positive light at all times
Members must are not allowed to participate in any activities or events hosted by the organization while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
Members must treat their fellow members and officers with respect at all times.
Section 2 Admission - Individuals interested in becoming a member must fill out a short submission form found here. The submission will be reviewed by the officer team, and the student will be accepted unless a problematic nature exists (Ex. ableist views).
Section 3 Resignations - Students can resign or leave our organization under any circumstance.
Section 4 Expulsions - This organization’s officers in discussion with the members reserve the right to expulse any member that is not fulfilling the roles of a member and respecting the culture that this organization involves. This process will include:
Any member or officer can submit a member in violation of the organization purpose or constitution to the president.
Once the president receives the violation it will be reviewed by the officers.
If the officers find the violation credible they schedule a time to meet with the member to discuss the violation.
If a majority vote passes to move the process forward a vote will be brought to the entire membership for a vote to remove or not. A majority vote is required.
Section 4 Dues - There will be no dues required to join our organization.
Section 1 President
The Powers/Responsibilities shall be:
Maintain appropriate communication with other officers.
The President shall attend meetings required by student government, such as Risk Management Training, and any other meetings deemed necessary by the officer team.
Section 2 Treasurer
The Powers/Responsibilities shall be:
Maintain appropriate communication with other officers.
Handle funds if the organization begins to receive funds.
The Treasurer shall attend meetings deemed necessary by the officer team.
Section 3 Student Organization Representative Council Officer
The Powers/Responsibilities shall be:
Maintain appropriate communication with other officers.
The SORC rep shall attend the meetings required by student government as well as others deemed necessary by the officer team.
Section 4 Other Officer Positions - Other members may be appointed to positions deemed necessary by the organization. Positions can include, but are not limited to; vice president, secretary, student liaison, organization correspondent.
Section 1 Selecting Officers - Officers will be selected by nominations and the majority vote of the group.
Section 2 Removal of Officers
Any officer can submit a member in violation of the organization purpose, officer duties, or constitution to the president or if it is the president, to the advisor
Once the violation is received it will be reviewed by the other officers
If the officers find the violation credible they schedule a time to meet with the officer to discuss the violation

Section 3 Filling Officer Positions in the Event of Removal - Officers will be replaced by nominations and the majority vote of the members.
Section 1 There will be one faculty/staff advisor of the student organization. The faculty/staff advisor will not have any voting privileges and be an ex-officio member.
Section 2 The process of selecting a new advisor - Advisors will be selected by nominations and a majority vote by members.
Section 3 Responsibilities of the advisor - Advisors will be responsible for:
giving advice and council on issued deemed appropriate by officers and club members.
Provide feedback and insight for the organization's development.
Intervene when appropriate.
Be knowledgeable of university or national policies that may impact the organization.
Co-sign paperwork.
Provide resources.
Section 1 Meetings will be conducted weekly on a set day, time, and place, to be reviewed every semester.
Section 2 Quorum
Quorum will consist of a majority or members in the organization
Section 3 Voting
All votes will be determined by a majority vote unless otherwise stated.
Votes will be taken by a show of hands unless otherwise specified.
Section 4 Parliamentary Authority
Important information will be discussed first before socialization begins.
The Tech Deaf Culture Alliance shall use Robert’s Rules of Order to conduct business at meetings.
Section 1 The organization agrees to abide by all federal, state, and local laws; and by Texas Tech University Policies and Procedures.
Section 1 The organization does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, citizenship, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression in any of its activities.
