Tears in the shadow is a turn by turn strategy game.
In order to beat the level on must accomplish the mission assigned at the beginning of the level. Either:
At each turn, zombies take one action: move or attack (or do nothing). For each attack from a zombie you will loose one life point.
The player can take several actions (depending on the character and its current experience). Players actions are:
In 3D mode, you can move by touching the ground on the block just next to you (you can only move block by block).
An icon will appear. Touch it to trigger the move action.
The principle is the same for doors. Touch the door to make the icon appear. Touch the icon.
In VR mode, instead of touching gaze at the ground or the door and aim at the icon.
Some furniture can be searched. To do so, touch the furniture to make a magnifier icon appear. Touch it to search and try to find some equippable or usable items.
In VR mode just look at the furniture.
Some doors are locked but you can either break or try to pick them up. To break a door you have to equip an item that gives you to ability to do so (e.g.: a crowbar). Picking success is not guaranted.
In VR mode just look at the furniture.
You can access the menu by the dedicated or by tilting your head left in VR mode.
From the menu you can wait for one action or wait for the turn to end.
The magnifier icon let you search in the current room / block. If you just dropped an item you can get it back this way.
Useful information are displayed in the menu like you total and remaining life points, remaining and total actions per turn, your current score, the current mission, playing time and details about your character and your items.
Touch an item to equip / unequip it. Touch the recycle bin to drop it.
Three characters are available in Tears in the Shadow.
While you progress in the current game, your character will gain new competencies depending on the moves you take.
When you kill an ennemy or break a door lock you gain 1 strength point.
Picking a lock, drinking some water or eating some food will be rewarded with 1 Agility point.
Searching for an item will give you 1 Karma point. Waiting will give you 1 Karma point (if you end a turn, the number of point will equal the number of remaining actions)

To be able to attack an enemy your HIT points must be greater than the enemy Constitution and your ATK must be greater than the enemy Stamina.
When starting a new game you are requested to choose the character you want to play with. Use ">>" button to select the next character and ">" to proceed to level selection.
You can advance in available levels with ">>" and launch the game with ">"
There are thousands of levels possible in Tears in the Shadow. They will, however, open little by little as the number of player grows.
Note that if you are playing offline, the number of playable levels is limited: the game will randomly send you in one of the first ten levels. Also, your score will not be recorded in offline mode.
