We’re a student-driven initiative working to make sustainability actionable on campus and beyond. Started in March 2024 with a fresh vision to build solutions, we borrow our name from a group of sustainability enthusiasts who conducted waste collection drives pre-pandemic. Through leveraging and developing technology, formulating data-driven policy, behavioral change campaigns, and stakeholder engagement, we aim to build smarter, cleaner systems for waste reduction and resource optimization on campus and beyond.
Team Zero-Waste builds smart tools to improve waste segregation and material recovery, track what’s actually being thrown out, and boost how much can be recovered and reused. Data meets dustbins—because even sustainability needs a backend.
We explore ways to redesign systems to minimize waste and optimize resource recovery. From sustainable event planning, minimizing the use of single use plastic, bicycle reuse, designing nudges to minimize food waste to and campus-wide guidelines to make sustainability easier for everyone.
We bring people into the loop through workshops, surveys, social media, and on-ground drives. It’s all about helping students think differently about waste—and showing how small shifts can make a big impact.
