Sons of The American Legion National Vice-Commander Central Region 2021 - 2022

Jeff is the proud son of United States Army and Korean War Veteran, Past Department of Ohio Commander (2003 – 2004) the late Joe Vrabel.

Jeff strives to live a “Service to Others” philosophy instilled in him by his parents, Joe and Nadene.  With the support of his family and friends, he has demonstrated a commitment to his Community, State, and Nation in various ways.  He served in various capacities and was the Commander of the nearly 30,000 member Sons of The American Legion Detachment of Ohio for the 2005-2006 membership year and has served as Commander of Mahoning Valley Squadron 15 in Poland, Ohio where he is a founding, Life, and Charter Member.  In 2002, he was named the Earl A. Cox Outstanding Member of the Year by the Detachment of Ohio.  Jeff is the editor of The Ohio SALute, the Detachment of Ohio NALPA award-winning newsletter.  He is also a Past Commander of the Dynamic Ninth District. 

Jeff works with various Veterans’ organizations throughout Mahoning County and across Ohio, and in 2011 was named Citizen of the Year for service to Veterans and Americanism by the United Veterans’ Council of Greater Youngstown, Ohio.  Since 2010, he has served as Chairman of the Memorial Day Parade and Memorial Ceremonies in Poland, Ohio.

Jeff is a member of the National Membership Committee for the 2019 – 2020 and 2020 - 2010 membership years.

Jeff works with the children and youth of his community by serving on the local and district Little League® administrations, and officiates games in Little League® Baseball, Pony Baseball®, and NCAA® Football.  He also officiates youth league and high school basketball.  Jeff has coached all three of his sons in baseball and basketball and is looking forward to the coming seasons.

Jeff and his wife Mary (Unit 15) have three sons, Jeff, Jr. (Detachment of Ohio Second Vice-Commander), Kenneth, and Phillip, all members of Squadron 15.  His mother Nadene and sister Melissa are also Unit 15 members.
