Teamviewer Keyboard Input Not Working

I am logged into a remote computer with TeamViewer. I can see the remote desktop which is asking for me to enter my passcode. However when I type my passcode on the keyboard, nothing is being entered. In short my keyboard input is not coming through at the other end. Mouse gestures seem to be working however.

I tried checking through multiple options, particularly "disable remote input", and nothing worked. In my case, I use Tv as a mere lazy convenience to access a machine in another room of my house so, after discovering this issue, I just decided to see if there was anything wrong on the remote machine itself. Turns out, I had no input control on that machine - not keyboard or mouse - even when I had ended the Tv session.

I have a problem that started a few weeks ago. When I connect to my remote machine via teamviewer my keyboard is not being mapped properly. Sometimes keystrokes are not being registered and sometimes keystrokes do things differently than they should.

I am using teamviewer 9 on my laptop (windows 7) to log-in remotely to windows 8. After I log-in I cannot use my keyboard, however my mouse works fine. I have tried going to actions and clicking send remote key combinations but still not able to type, any idea?

Having the same problem on my on my Mac even after following the directions for How to control a Mac running macOS 10.14 Mojave on both apple computers one running MAC OS 14 and one running MacOS 10.13. Team Viewer is the same Version on both computers. also added Teamview to the Firewall Settings still no keyboard and mouse on remote computer. Any other remedy's or suggestions on this issue? Please help? Trying to help my elderly mom with who lives in another state! Can only view the remote computer. No Keyboard or Mouse is working since the upgrade from Teamviewer 10 to 14.....

I do not have control connecting from a macbook air running 10.14.1 mojave and a mac pro tower running the same OS. No keyboard commands work however I can make windows appear such as system preferences when using the teamviewer management window but with no control over dragging them or closing them etc..

You fundamentally cannot input information securely when your method of inputting is compromised. The most a virtual keyboard can do is protect against hardware keyloggers connected to the keyboard. If something is monitoring input to a remote or virtualized machine, you've lost.

Perhaps you want to use a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch. They are devices which allow remote access to, as the name states, the keyboard, display, and mouse (and often other HIDs). These devices are simple and do not run a complex operating system, nor do they allow executing files, making them more or less immune from malicious activity. They are nothing more than an extension for your monitor and input devices.

If the keylogger is only listening to any hardware devices that identify as a "keyboard" for their keystrokes, then no. It would not capture your remote keystrokes regardless of what you typed in through that remote-access software as it would be looking for input from that specific class of hardware device. I am getting weird behavior from my keyboard input in some applications/windows as well. Like Enter wont work in Calc.exe to complete a calculation. Cant type in the search b ar in any Windows Explorer window, can't use keyboard to jump to file names in Windows Explorer and other oddities.

PS: When the keys would repeat all input devices would be locked up. ie. mouse won't move, clicks don't do anything, keyboard presses don't register. Then when it becomes unstuck, the mouse moves around and everything. Hope this helps.

Ubuntu Precise yesterday showed similar symptoms: numlock LED was insanely blinking, at times no keyboard input was possible on two of three connected keyboards, and additionally, the mouse cursor was being dragged down.

I feel the same as new4u, I have been having this keyboard problem and its really irritating. I use ubuntu as my main development machine. I left the mac cause I loved working on this, but with this problem, I guess I will go back. I have an i5 Asus machine running Ubuntu 13.04. I have upgraded my Kernel to run 3.9.0 but the problem persists.

A little off topic, but for what it is worth, somewhat interestingly, MS terminal services / RDP seems to send arbitrary keyboard input, like I have my SDK app using the register_callback example to send obscure reserved keys when the macro keys are pressed.
