did you know that in 1518, in Strasbourg (then part of the Holy Roman Empire), there was an event called the "Dancing Plague" where hundred of people literally danced uncontrollably in the streets for days. Some reportedly danced for weeks, and a number of them died from exhaustion, heart attack, or stroke. Historians still aren't entirely sure why it happened- some theories suggest it was mass hysteria, others think it was caused by ergot poisoning from moldy rye bread.
