ELSI (Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications) refers to the ethical, legal, and social issues that arise from scientific and medical research and development. For instance, as genome editing and AI-based medical experiments progress, concerns about human rights, privacy protection, prevention of discrimination, and societal acceptance emerge. The ELSI perspective helps anticipate and address the societal impacts of technological innovation, providing guidelines for responsible research and development. In experimental research, ELSI plays a critical role in ensuring transparency and building public trust.
We conducted our project with respect for the principles of ELSI. Since we did not perform experiments involving genetic modification or introduce genes into cultured cells, there is no risk of causing harm to the environment even if the products created in this experiment were unintentionally released. Furthermore, as we move forward with the implementation of our reaction system, it is essential to continue adhering to ELSI while advancing the project.
