Melon is an online streaming platform use throughout South Korea. The app is geolocked and is not able to be downloaded into phones outside of South Korea. However, there are ways to still get the app on your phone. Before starting this process there are things to keep in mind.

1. Because the app is not from Play Store or App Store this basically means you are installing a foreign app and any risks that come with it will not be to blame on official providers.

2. Due to a recent update only accounts with a Korean phone number are classified as "Verified Accounts." If you download the app outside of Korea you will have an "Unverified Account." This means that you cannot buy streaming passes or rank the songs. However, you can still find ways to stream and you can still like the song, listen to the 1 minute preview, leave comments and like/dislike comments.

3. If you successfully download the app but have an Unverified Account you may still be able to stream by obtaining a streaming coupon. Only Verified Accounts can buy and give streaming coupons. There are many people who offer to buy streaming coupons and transfer them into the desired account. HOWEVER, you must be sure that the seller is trustworthy.

4. Downloading the Melon App is completely up to your discretion.

In order to download Melon on your phone, you must do so manually using an APK.

1. When you first download the Melon APK your phone message will say "This type of file can harm your device. Do you want to keep 멜론_v5.0.7_apkpure.com.apk anyway?

2. If you press yes, another prompt will greet you. This prompt will say "For security, your phone is set to block installation of apps obtain from unknown sources." You can either press CANCEL or SETTINGS.

3. If you go to SETTINGS it will take you to your phone's LOCK SCREEN AND SECURITY page. Click the switch where it says "Unknown sources - Allow installations of apps from sources other than the Play Store" to allow the file to keep downloading.

4. This will trigger another prompt box labelled "Unknown sources - Installing from unknown sources may be harmful to your device and personal data. By tapping OK, you agree that you are solely responsible for any damage your device or loss of data that may result from using these applications. " If you agree click on the "Allow this installation only" button and then press OK.
