Inspired by the quaint New York State town of Sleepy Hollow, famous for the Halloween tale of the Headless Horseman, Sleepy Hallow serves as our entrance land to the Dark Kingdom. This entrance embodies not only the spirit of Halloween, but incorporates the eclectic atmosphere that our park permeates.
As you enter under the dark brown brick archway lined by dark steel rods anchoring the gates that welcome you into the land, you are immediately immersed in a northeast Americana town that emulates both old and new tales from beyond.
Parallel to the entrance is permanently autumn trees (artificial trees) that give you the sense of Halloween. On the left side of the main entranceway, and portrayed on the map, guests will be able to enter the Sleepy Hallow Town Hall, where they can get park information, times guides, and various other amenities throughout their time at Dark Kingdom. Adjacent to that guests will be able to take a guided tour of the boutique park by their "ghost host" - a tour guide that takes you through the various lands of the park, telling ghost stories throughout and tall tales that could spook you throughout the night. Tours depart nightly at approx 6pm and last until park closing every 35 minutes.
To the right of the entrance, guests can find the restrooms as well as changing stations.
As you enter the land further you are greeted with a statue of the Headless Horseman riding high on his horse. This booming statue further immerses you into the land and comes 'alive' at night with sound effects and lighting visual cues. Lining the garden around the statue are several pumpkin carvings that change out every week, so you'll always see something new. These carvings will be done by cast members and even some guests may be able to carve pumpkins at the pumpkin carving station in Sleepy Hallow with the winners being placed on display for a given length of time in the park with a spot on the park's instagram page as well.
Meandering further into the land, guests are able to shop at The Memento - a quaint old timey bookstore that sells ghost stories as well as other haunted novels for guests to peruse. Inside is Madame Darcy's Delicious Delights, a small coffee and tea shop inside of the gift store for guests to use both for reading purposes as well as to grab a quick coffee on the way through the park.
Parallel to the coffee shop is Sleepy Hallow's signature restaurant - the Estate, an old New York style mansion with a backstory of a railroad tycoon built the mansion with stolen funds only to have it be built upon an old graveyard. Inside, you may see some spooks (who are all friendly) as they interact with each other and the guests using a projection lighting technique, which adds a mixture of ambiance and spontinety to the dining experience.
As you get closer to Dracula's castle, guests are immersed in various entertainment elements such as walk-around characters, meet and greets with various Halloween themed films, and much more.Â
