As a part of the new refurbishment of Epcot’s Land Pavilion, Soarin’ is rethemed to focus on the natural landscapes of the world, though it also showcases how they are impacted by climate change. The idea of natural landscapes was chosen because this new version of the Land focuses on climate and what we can do to help it.
The queue is similar to the current version, but instead of being a passenger on a flight around the world, guests that ride this attraction are now boarding flights to some of the most natural places in the world.
Signs in the first part of the queue say airline phrases such as “NOW BOARDING: A Flight Through the World’s Natural Horizons. There are also posters advertising said natural places, including posters depicting other Walt Disney World attractions, both current and long gone. Once guests make their way to the plane, they hear the sounds of their Land Airways ticket being checked, and they are ready to board the plane.
“Hello, this is your pilot speaking. Passengers, please keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the plane at all times. Mantenga sus manos, brazos, pies y piernas dentro del avión en todo momento. In the case of an emergency landing, please exit out the door on your left. Safe travels, and have a nice flight.”
The scene is unchanged aside from the addition of more snow to the mountain.
Now showcases a melting ice cap, a consequence of Man’s effects of global warming)
The Sydney scene is replaced by a trip through the Outback, featuring some of its flora, fauna, and untouched wilderness
Unchanged because the castle inspired a Sleeping Beauty.
Mostly unchanged, however, there is more emphasis on the natural wonder of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Replaces the China scene, features a visit to Mount Fuji.
Mostly unchanged, riders now experience a sandstorm in the Sahara Desert
Mostly unchanged, the Taj Mahal is now highlighted as a positive effect of Man’s impact on nature
Unchanged, a trip through the stunning vistas of the canyons
Fiji is replaced by a scene where the plane nearly collides with an active volcano, the eruption is implied to be an effect of climate change
Iguacu Falls is replaced by the Amazon Rainforest, at first less trees are shown [also due to climate change), but as the plane gets closer, it is revealed that the rainforest is still abundant
The Paris scene is replaced by a scene that travels through the French countryside, passing over a farm
Mostly unchanged, however, the park’s design is updated to the current one [with the exterior of the Land Pavilion being lit up in green lights
“As we begin to descend back to Earth, please remember to keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the plane until it has come to a complete stop. To unfasten your seatbelt, just push down on the red button. Make sure to check out the other offerings in this wonderful pavilion. Thanks for Soarin’ over the Land with us.”
Guests then proceed to go down the exit hallway, themed after an airport terminal. When they make their way back to the main foyer of the Land Pavilion, the Green Thumb Emporium, the gift shop that sells all things Land Pavilion, Living with the Land, and Soarin’, is right next to them.
