At Chick-fil-A, you will care for countless team members and help lead them to find their potential. Chick-fil-A leaders play an active role in having a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A. Guests and team members alike
Developing people is second only to serving Guests. We’re not just showing Team Members how to be better leaders but also how to be better people.
The SERVE Model reminds leaders to:
See the Future: Envision and communicate a compelling picture of a preferred future
Engage and Develop Others: Optimize teams by investing in their growth
Reinvent Continuously: Constantly seek new ways to get better
Value Results and Relationships: Balance the pursuit of measurable goals with the cultivation of meaningful connections
Embody a Leader’s HEART: Lead with integrity and develop leadership character
The second ‘E’ in SERVE was updated from Embody the Values to Embody a Leader’s Heart. The new framing better reflects the importance of self-development and understanding the impact character can have on others.
It also introduces the Heart framework which can help focus and guide a leader’s journey. Heart includes these five habits:
Hunger for wisdom
Expect the best
Accept responsibility
Respond with courage

Notes on the process:
When applying for a new role, the failure to meet expectations will result in the following timeline :
After failure of first attempt, there will be a 30 day (1 month) waiting period in which the individual will work on assigned items from the original evaluation
After failure of second attempt, there will be a 60 day (2 months) waiting period in which the individual will work on assigned items from the second evaluation
After failure of the third attempt there will be a 6 months waiting period in which the individual is deemed as in need of more time just performing at the current level in the restaurant. This is to take the pressure off of the individual and the leaders to allow healthy, natural growth to occur. During this time, the individual is encouraged to continue to grow his or herself but no additional effort will be made on behalf of the individual by the leaders for the reasons above.
Once the 6 month probationary period has ended, the individual will be allowed to restart an evaluation process in hopes that necessary growth has taken place.
If the individual has current write ups, they may be temporarily barred from submitting an expression of interest. Please see the Office Admin to receive information on any outstanding write ups. Allowed write ups are listed below:
Trainer can be achieved with one outstanding write up.
Shift Leader, Assistant Director and Director require that there be no outstanding write ups.
*Write ups remain "outstanding" for 2 months or 60 days from date of issuance.*
Fast Track Process:
If they have previous CFA experience or are hired specifically for a leadership role
The process will be fast tracked at least up until their previous leadership level.
Beyond their previous level will be determined based on their performance and character.
