June/July 2022 Update:
A huge thank you to everyone that came out to support NSAA's Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined program for the annual Solstice Ski Jump-A-Thon June 25th! (all sponsors listed on our NSAA site). As a result of the many generous donations and sponsorships the community raised >$14K during the event, exceeding the $10K goal!
NSAA received notice in June from the Rasmuson Foundation that the program was awarded a Tier II top off grant of $150K toward the building project! Coupled with funds already raised by the club, and one remaining grant application pending that the program is hopeful will be awarded, the program is potentially $58.9K away from the final fundraising goal! (as of 9/1/22)
The program is currently focused on raising the remaining funding needed before the end of December 2022. If everything comes together the goal is for construction to begin in May 2023 and complete in September 2023! Thank you to everyone involved for your support and continued dedication to helping to grow and sustain access to this amazing winter sport for Alaskans for years to come.

Capital fundraising campaign underway to replace the aging buildings at the Karl Eid Ski Jumps.
Background
The Karl Eid ski jumping complex was built in Anchorage, Alaska between 1983 - 1988, made possible through the generous donations and support from many community members, donors, sponsors and volunteers.
After more than 35 years, the buildings at the base of the jumps that facilitate the program are in need of replacement. Fundraising work has been underway for several years with the goal of replacing the buildings in 2023, ahead of Anchorage hosting the US Junior National competition.
Current 35-year-old buildings
The buildings at the base of the jumps form the collaboration hub and foundation for the program for both new and experienced jumpers alike. The aging equipment and locker room houses jumping skis, boots, suits, helmets, and other equipment and maintenance items. Jumpers utilize the locker room each practice, currently a single open space, to prepare for each jumping session.
The small aging maintenance building facilitates hill and ski maintenance including ski waxing and binding needs and other important support needs throughout the year.
The current coaches building is a small open space that serves as a collaborative area to work with athletes in between jumping to provide coaching and feedback. Jumping competitions are held throughout the year and the building is used extensively to facilitate collaboration and support for competitions, practices, and various project support needs to keep the jumps running.
Proposed replacement buildings
The existing structures are all in various stages of disrepair and aging. After review with various building advisors and architects, the recommended plan forward was prepared. The plan leverages and re-uses as much of the existing infrastructure as possible, working to maintain and refresh the existing maintenance building, and replaces much of the other buildings.

Impact
The impact of this project will be to continue to support the ongoing sustainability of this special winter sport for young Alaskans for years to come.
Keeping the jumps open and maintained allows future Alaskans to come out and try this unique winter sport. Ski jumping promotes courage, character, confidence and community!
Fundraising Approach
Multiple fund-raising efforts are underway to support this effort including grant requests, corporate sponsorships, and grass roots fundraising efforts led by the jumping athletes including the annual Ski Jump-A-Thon events.
The total estimated building replacement cost is $450,000. Several grants are in the process of being applied for (pending updates) along with over $75,000 that has been raised and set aside by the program. The remaining amount the club is focused on raising is $75,000. Thank you for your consideration and support for this program!
