Jurassic Era Fossils in Smith's Backyard
The Dinosaur Footprints in Holyoke are visible tracks from prehistoric dinosaurs that are embedded in a patch of Sandstone on the banks of the Connecticut river. The property is owned by The Trustees of Reservations in Massachusetts.
Our project's purpose is to explore the Holyoke Dinosaur Footprints and collect data for the Smith College geology departmnet's virtual landscape project for the footprint site.
For our project, we toured and took footage of the Holyoke Valley's dinosaur footprints. In addition, we used drones to collect data of the area and its surrounding land to create an orthomosaic map, which can be found in our Mapping page.
